The introduction of the BMW R 1300 GS Adventure marks a significant evolution in the realm of adventure motorcycles, setting new benchmarks in design and performance.
According to BMW Motorrad, this model represents a remarkable leap forward, combining enhanced seating comfort, ergonomics, and superior wind and weather protection with exceptional handling precision, advanced suspension comfort, and smooth operation.
The R 1300 GS Adventure is poised to become the standard-bearer for large adventure motorcycles. Again.
This motorcycle is a testament to BMW Motorrad’s commitment to continuous improvement. Almost entirely redesigned, the R 1300 GS Adventure enhances its adventure capabilities in every aspect, from engine and chassis to bodywork and storage.
Whether crossing the Sahara, scaling the Himalayas, or exploring the Amazon, the big GS Adventure has been the go-to machine for over two decades. With this new model, BMW Motorrad ensures that adventurers are equipped with even greater expertise and reliability for their journeys.
At the core of this new model is the legendary twin-cylinder boxer engine, now more compact thanks to innovative engineering like the repositioned transmission and camshaft drive. This engine delivers a powerful 107 kW (145 hp) at 7,750 rpm and 149 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm, making it the most potent but not the largest BMW boxer engine ever produced.
The new suspension system, featuring a steel main frame optimised for space and stiffness, and an aluminium lattice rear frame, significantly enhances ride stability and precision. The EVO Telelever front and revised EVO Paralever rear wheel guides contribute to an unparalleled riding experience. The inclusion of the new electronic Dynamic Suspension Adjustment (DSA) standard adds another layer of sophistication, dynamically adjusting damping and spring rates to match riding conditions, ensuring maximum comfort and safety.
Adaptive vehicle height control, available as an option, further elevates the riding experience by automatically adjusting the bike’s height based on riding conditions, enhancing comfort and accessibility without sacrificing performance.
Standard on the new model are four riding modes, including a new “Enduro” mode for superior off-road capability. Additionally, the Automated Shift Assistant (ASA) offers an innovative feature that automates clutch actuation, allowing for manual or automatic gear shifting, making the ride even more enjoyable.
Safety and visibility are also at the forefront with full LED headlights in a new matrix design, along with auxiliary headlights and integrated turn indicators. Optional features like the Riding Assistant, which includes Active Cruise Control (ACC), Front Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Change Warning, and the new Rear End Collision Warning (RECW), provide cutting-edge safety and convenience for riders.
BMW Motorrad has also introduced new aluminium top cases and side cases with integrated magnetic couplings, offering robust and convenient storage solutions. The bike’s 30L aluminium fuel tank, with clever mounting options and effective weather protection, further underscores its suitability for long-distance touring.
The R 1300 GS Adventure is offered in several variants, each with distinct styling and features, including the Triple Black, GS Trophy, and the exclusive Option 719 Karakorum.
Each variant brings its own unique aesthetic and functional enhancements, ensuring that there’s a perfect match for every rider.
The highlights of this new model include a completely redesigned boxer engine with BMW ShiftCam technology, increased power output, a newly designed chassis, advanced suspension systems, and a host of standard and optional features that enhance safety, performance, and comfort.
The R 1300 GS Adventure is a culmination of BMW Motorrad’s engineering excellence, offering a motorcycle that is not only powerful and capable but also refined and versatile, making it “the ultimate choice for adventure touring“.
