Keen to continue to attract new riders and expand its market share in the displacement segment below 500 ccm that it entered in 2016, BMW Motorrad released the latest G 310 R which mirrors the enhancements seen in the new G 310 GS announced at the end of September.

The incremental update includes key items such as:

  • Electric throttle Ride by Wire
  • Stainless steel exhaust system
  • 100% LED headlight, taillight and indicators
  • Adjustable brake and clutch levers

New Electric throttle.

The BMW G 310 R engine has been equipped with BMW’s “electronic throttle grip” (electromotive throttle controller or Ride by Wire) and offers a more sensitive throttle response. Automatic idle speed increase when starting also prevents a possible sudden stalling of the engine. A self-boosting anti-hopping clutch is also new, reducing engine drag torque and providing a significant increase in rider safety – particularly during braking manoeuvres involving simultaneous downshifting. It also offers significantly reduced operating forces at the clutch lever.

More adjustable

The levers gain adjustability. Both the clutch and the handbrake lever are adjustable in four stages. Provideing welcome ergonomic benefits,  particularly for people with small hands. In the 1st position the brake lever just on is 6 mm closer to the handlebar.

The G 310 R continues to be offered with optional low seat.

New LED lighting.

As with the BMW G 310 GS, already equipped with brake lights in LED technology, the new BMW G 310 R now has a full-LED headlight for even better visibility at night and LED flashing turn indicators as stanard for increased visibility in traffic. The new LED headlight ensures bright and homogeneous illumination of the road and due to the modified connection, distracting vibrations of the light cone are a thing of the past. The three light functions high beam, low beam and, depending on the country, daytime driving light can be conveniently operated using the left handlebar controls.

With some very nicely executed styling updates, the bikes have been released into the Indian market in 3 flavours; Cosmic Black, Polar White and Sport with red highlights and red-dipped trellis frame emphasising the sportiness and energy of the G 310 R.

Speaking at the launch of the new G 310 Twins in India, Vikram Pawah, President, BMW Group India and CEO of BMW Group Australia and New Zealand, said;

“India is amongst the top markets for the company. The G310 R and G310 GS will redefine the segment as they’re ideal for young riders and also accomplished ones. They’ve driving sales momentum for BMW Motorrad, having sold 5,000 unit.”
